Tasting: Alta Maria Chardonnay

Alta Maria
Chardonnay
Santa Barbara, California
America
2014
$18.95

Winery Review: From Joseph Wagner of Belle Glos and Caymus fame! This classic cool-climate California Chardonnay shows intensely concentrated kumquat, lime and peach flavors, offset by bright acidity. There's quite a bit of oak on it, but it's balanced and adds a pleasant layer of buttered toast flavor.

My Review: This wine was delicious and in the top 2 from my tasting that day. This wine had pretty high tannins, which I do think helped level out the taste of the review said. I also think that the high tannins did an interesting job with blending the notes of the oak barrel and pear, making them almost indistinguishable.

I tasted this wine on its own.
