Tasting: Hawk Crest Cabernet Sauvignon

Hawk Crest Red Hills
Cabernet Sauvignon
Lake County, California
America
2008
$25

Winery Review: From Stag’s Leap winery this is textbook California Cabernet Sauvignon with dark fruit, red cherry and black pepper spice notes. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with inviting blueberry pie and cocoa flavors. Enjoy this wine with grilled rib eye steak with herb butter, braised beef short ribs, or black-pepper-crusted ahi tuna.

My Review: This was a very good wine that offered a lot of spicy notes and offered sort of medium to high tannins. The body of the wine was bold and full and had great aromatic notes of chocolate, dark berries, and slight musk.

I tasted this wine by itself.
