Tasting: Risata Prosecco

Image
Risata Prosecco Extra Dry Italy $16 Winery Review:  The nose has the scent of ripe peaches. It is semi-sweet with peach apricot and floral notes on the palate. My Review: This was a nice refreshing wine that was a real easy drinker. The wine offered aromas of nectarine and peaches, followed by peaches on the palate accompanied by light citrus hints. This wine had low tannins and can be enjoyed all throughout the day! I tried this wine by itself.

Tasting: Prime's Ruby Port

Image
Prime's Ruby Port (Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cao, Tinta Roriz) Oporto Portugal $11.95 Winery Review:  Ruby color with red fruit aromas; pleasantly sweet and balanced taste. As the wines used to produce Prime’s Ruby Port age , they gain smoothness and elegance while retaining their fruitiness, intensity and youthful ruby color. They are then blended together for smoothness and consistency. My Review: This was a great flavorful port. There were nice bold flavors that were silky smooth; wiht flavors of oak and plum. I tried this wine by itself.

Tasting: Syfall Merlot

Image
Skyfall  Merlot  Columbia Valley Washington  America 2015 $20 Winery Review:  Wonderfully developed plum, vanilla and leather aromas swirl in the glass. Juicy flavors of cherry candy coupled with hints of cocoa powder weave through the palate. Balanced acidity and polished tannins on the finish. My Review:  This was a very fun and flavorful wine. I enjoyed the intense flavors of tabacco, leather, vinalla and dark cherry, which presented itself in the mild to strong tannins present in the wine. There was a nice woody finish, that had a nice chocolately taste to go along with it. I tried this wine by itself.

Tasting: Palacio del Burgo Rioja Tinto

Image
Palacio del Burgo Rioja Tinto  ( 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha & 5% Mazuelo) Rioja Spain 2015 $8.95 Winery Review:  Bright violet. Vibrant red and dark berry scents are complemented by hints of cola and candied flowers. Fresh and energetic on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that deepen and become sweeter on the back half. Gentle tannins build slowly on the clinging finish but are no match for the plush, primary fruit. This delicious Rioja drinks surprisingly well already. My Review: This was a nice subdued wine that was bright and fillin. The wine gave dark berry notes accompanied by low orange and very sweet notes that attributed to the brightness of teh wine. The wine was easy to drink and low tannins.  I drank this wine by itself.

Tasting: Don Rodolfo Torrontes

Image
Don Rodolfo Torrontes Mendoza Argentina 2015 $5.95 Winery Review: Fragrant, peach, apricot, tropical aromas; lots of spice, intense, mouth-filling, great value. My Review: This was a full wine that was full-bodied and had nice citrus aromas, as well as apricot, grapefruit, and peach. The spiciness of the wine contributed to the tannins, which gave that "mouth-filling" taste on the palate.  I tried this wine by itself.

Tasting: Batasiolo

Image
Batasiolo Gavi Cortese Piemonte Italy  2014 $6.95 Winery Review:  Pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections, clear and bright. The nose is fresh and floral, with good intensity and persistence. In the mouth it is dry and pleasantly cool. The final sensation reminiscent of almonds is typical of the appellation. My Review: This was a nice and refeshing, floral wine that had a nutty taste that was followed by green apples. The wine offered low tannins and had a longish finish that was nice and tart.  I tried this wine by itself.

Tasting: Oliver Apple Wine

Image
Oliver Apple Pie Apple Wine Bloomington, Indiana America $15 Winery Review:  You’ll imagine they spent hours crushing and pressing fresh-baked pies. You’re almost right. For this seasonal wine, they painstakingly perfected the balance of tart, crisp, fresh apple and creamy sweet vanilla. Oliver Apple Pie wine features fresh-pressed, 100% apple wine (no concentrates!) My Review: This wine was way too sweet. I have come to the conclusion that I do not like apple wines because they're too sweet, and I think that they'd be better as a drier wine. This was was refreshing though, and had a light and airy taste that had notese of vanila and very low tannins.  I tasted this wine by itself.
